Governor says more public, private hospitals needed to meet growing healthcare demand

PESHAWAR, Sep 27 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday said the growing burden on existing hospitals due to limited healthcare facilities and the lack of sufficient expansion in the public health sector underscored the need for establishing more public and private hospitals across the province.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Elite Care General Hospital here in Hayatabad, the Governor formally inaugurated the facility and congratulated its management.

He appreciated investors in the private healthcare sector, saying the establishment of a new private hospital was a positive development that would improve access to quality medical services and create employment opportunities.

The Governor said the province’s rising population required the establishment of additional hospitals, particularly in remote districts, adding that private sector investment in healthcare could effectively complement government efforts.

Talking to media later, Kundi said the prevailing law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not warrant any march on Islamabad, stressing that political forces should jointly work for restoring peace in the province.

He said the Pakistan Peoples Party was always ready for dialogue to promote peace and address the province’s development and financial challenges in cooperation with the provincial government.

The Governor said both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing security challenges, adding that collective efforts beyond political differences were needed to ensure peace, development and resolution of public issues.

Responding to a question, Kundi said any resignation received by the Governor House through the prescribed legal procedure would be accepted in accordance with the law.
