LAHORE, Sep 27 (APP): Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, while chairing a meeting on Sunday, directed all divisional superintendents (DSs) to ensure implementation of the recommendations regarding railway tracks by October 20.
The Federal Government Inspector of Railways (FGIR) gave a detailed briefing on the condition of railway tracks and presented recommendations during the meeting.
The minister directed that the upgradation of Rohri Junction be completed by December 25, while all scrap lying within the railway system should be disposed of by December 31.
Taking strict notice of overloading at railway weighbridges, Abbasi directed that immediate action be taken on complaints regarding overloading.
The meeting also took important decisions to ensure timely completion of ongoing development projects in the railway divisions. The Headquarters office was directed to respond to demands received from the divisions within 72 hours.
Regarding the anti-encroachment operation, the minister said he stood with the railway staff and directed them not to succumb to any pressure. He said the assistance of NAB and other law-enforcement agencies was being sought to ensure the success of the operation against encroachments.
The minister further directed that the rake of any train that had been upgraded must not be changed under any circumstances.
The minister expressed satisfaction over Pakistan Railways earning Rs26 billion during the first quarter and appreciated the administration for its performance.
