PU student wins National Half Marathon, Rs 0.65 million award

LAHORE, Sep 27 (APP): Punjab University Student Gonish Batool has won the National Half Marathon Race started at at Liberty Square here on Sunday.

She secured 1st position and won a cash prize of PKR 650,000 (6 Lac and 50 thousand cash prize).

The 2nd and 3rd positions were won by Wapda.

The event was organized by Allied Bank Pakistan from Liberty Square to Liberty Square with the participation of athletes from around the country covering 18 point of the route.

The route points were Based on the route map for the Lahore Marathon 2026, here are the names of the mentioned places in sequential order from 1 to 18:

Libertry Market Square, Hafeez Center, Zahoor Elahi Road, KFC, Galleria Mall, Canal Road Intersection, PIC, Shadman Intersection, Qartaba Chowk, Tollinton Market, Shama Intersection, Muslim town Morr, Garden Town Underpass, PU Underpass, Jinnah Hospital,

Usmani Rd Intersection, Usmani Rd Signal, Barkat Market, Kalma Chowk, Liberty Market Square.

PU Vice Dr Muhammad Ali has congratulated PU athletes Ms Gonish Batool, Coach Nabeel Ahmad, Director Sports Dr Shabbir Sarwar and the entire university on this marvelous achievement.

He said the Directorate of Sports had worked with full dedication and commitment during the last two years bring great victories and achievements to the Punjab University credit.

This include university’s overall top ranking in the HEC General Trophy with 18 point and 1.8 million cash awards in men and women sports.

He said grounds booking earning has been increased many folds, sports gymnasium was renovated, state of the art badminton academy established and beautiful tennis court completed during this time besides other development work at new and old campus.

Director sports Dr Shabbir Sarwar also congratulated the winning athlete Ms Gonish. He said that PU was currently playing PCB Grade 2 cricket President’s Trophy for the first time in the history with the support of the Vice chancellor and PCB.
