Punjab’s historical,cultural and natural heritage offers immense tourism potential:CM
LAHORE, Sep 27 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the provincial government was committed to promoting tourism by utilizing Punjab’s immense natural,historical,cultural and religious potential.
In her message on World Tourism Day,The CM said tourism can play a significant role in strengthening the economy,creating employment opportunities and projecting Pakistan’s positive image globally.
She paid tribute to tourism enthusiasts and said Allah Almighty had also invited mankind to travel across the earth and reflect on His creations.
She said tourism enriched human faculties and promoted reflection,knowledge and understanding.
Allah Almighty had blessed Pakistan with immense natural beauty and diverse tourist attractions,she added.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said Punjab’s historical,cultural and natural heritage held immense attraction for tourists from across the world.
Its ancient forts,religious sites and picturesque valleys offered enormous opportunities for tourism development. She said the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s designation of Lahore as the Tourism and Cultural Capital for the current year was encouraging and would help highlight the province’s cultural richness and tourism potential at the international level.
The CM said the Punjab government was taking sustainable initiatives to promote tourism and introduce the province’s historical and cultural heritage to the world.
Modern facilities were being developed at tourist destinations while reconstruction and improvement projects were underway to make these places more attractive for visitors.
She said religious tourism was also being promoted through sustainable measures,adding that Punjab’s rich religious heritage could attract visitors from different parts of the world.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Murree Glass Train project would create a new attraction for tourists while the Mall Road in Murree and other roads were being reconstructed and expanded to facilitate visitors.
Kotli Sattian was also emerging as a new tourist destination,she added.
She said the government was committed to introducing Punjab’s tourist destinations at the international level and utilizing all available resources for the promotion of tourism.
She said tourism development would help project Pakistan’s beautiful and positive image worldwide while creating new employment opportunities,strengthening local economies and providing economic opportunities to young people and local communities.
She said tourism could prove to be a significant milestone for Punjab’s economy and cultural development,adding that highlighting the province’s historical,cultural and tourism heritage remained among the government’s key priorities.
