Huzaifa, Huzaima set for historic FIP debut after Toyo Nasic Master triumph
ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP):Pakistan’s shining padel stars Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Huzaima Abdul Rehman are set to make their first-ever appearance in an FIP tournament when they compete in the FIP Bronze Pakistan-I 2026, scheduled to be held in Karachi from October 2 to 4.
The tournament will be a historic milestone for Pakistan as it will be the first FIP (International Padel Federation) event to be held here, bringing international-level padel competition to the country for the first time.
Huzaifa and Huzaima will enter the event with confidence after recently winning the prestigious Toyo Nasic Master title in Lahore.
The siblings had returned from Thailand, where they underwent rigorous training, before competing in the Lahore tournament. They said it was initially challenging to acclimatize to the conditions in Lahore following their intensive training stint in Thailand, but they adapted well as the competition progressed and eventually emerged victorious.
The duo defeated Abdullah and Salar 2-1 in the Men’s A final. After losing the opening set 5-7, they fought back strongly to win the second set 6-4 before sealing the deciding set 6-2.
Huzaifa, who is sponsored by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), said the training in Thailand had prepared them well, while adapting to different conditions in Lahore further strengthened their confidence.
“We had a very tough training programme in Thailand, so when we returned to Lahore, it was not easy to immediately acclimatize to the different conditions. However, we adapted well, stayed focused and gradually found our rhythm,” Huzaifa said.
“We are very happy and proud to win the Toyo Nasic Master. Coming back from Thailand and then winning the title has given us a lot of confidence ahead of our first FIP tournament,” he added.
Huzaifa also expressed gratitude to OGDCL for supporting his sporting journey.
“I am sincerely grateful to OGDCL for believing in me and supporting my padel career. Their sponsorship is a great encouragement for me, and I hope to repay their confidence through strong performances,” he said.
The siblings are also supported by The Central and Padel Planet. The Central is a padel facility in F-6 Islamabad, while Padel Planet is a Pakistan-based padel brand and distributor of international padel equipment, supporting players, clubs and coaches.
The FIP Bronze Pakistan-I carries a total prize purse of €8,500, equivalent to approximately Rs2.68 million.
For Huzaifa and Huzaima, the tournament will be particularly significant as it will be their maiden appearance on the FIP circuit.
Huzaima said the duo were eager to embrace the historic opportunity.
“Winning the Toyo Nasic Master has given us great confidence, but our focus is now on FIP Bronze Pakistan-I. It is our first FIP tournament and also the first FIP event in Pakistan, so it is a very special occasion for us,” Huzaima said.
“We will try to make the most of this opportunity. We will be aiming to give our best, compete strongly against international players and hopefully finish the tournament on a high note,” he added.
