ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP):Director General of Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal has said the Authority is committed to protecting the rights of its members and ensuring timely completion of housing projects by providing all possible legal facilitation.
Talking to APP, DG FGEHA said the Authority had recently overcome several legal and administrative challenges, enabling it to resume work on stalled projects and restore the confidence of its members.
The DG said work on various housing schemes was progressing rapidly, with the Authority prioritising projects according to available resources, legal requirements and the needs of its members.
He said some blocks of ongoing housing projects were expected to be handed over ahead of schedule, with the Authority working to ensure that essential facilities, including gas pipelines, sewerage and water supply, were available to make the plots ready for construction.
Referring to the Authority’s development plans, he said several projects were in the pipeline and efforts were being made to revive schemes that had remained stalled for a considerable period.
He specifically mentioned the Lifestyle Residency project, saying a consultant had been engaged and a comprehensive report prepared to help move the project forward. He said details regarding the project would be shared with members after completion of the relevant process.
The DG emphasised that FGEHA’s primary objective was to provide quality living facilities to its members while safeguarding their interests.
“Our purpose is to provide quality living to our members, but before providing quality living, we have to protect their rights,” he said.
He assured members that all possible legal facilitation would be provided directly through the Authority and advised them not to rely on intermediaries or outside persons claiming to facilitate their cases.
He said members did not need recommendations or dealings with outsiders for their legitimate work and could approach the Authority directly if they faced any difficulty.
The DG also urged development partners and consultants to ensure that their commitments were realistic and fulfilled within agreed timelines.
He said FGEHA would not make commitments that it could not fulfil, adding that the Authority would focus on timely completion and quality development rather than merely announcing projects.
He further stressed the need for careful scrutiny of land documents and other legal requirements in housing projects to safeguard members from potential disputes and fraudulent claims.
“We have to protect the rights of our members. Their commitments should be fulfilled in a timely manner and in a way that is practically possible,” he said.
The DG said the Authority would continue working with its members and development partners to make its housing projects more marketable, sustainable and responsive to members’ requirements.
