ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP):The Pakistan Embassy in Rwanda hosted a Business-to-Business (B2B) and Government-to-Business (G2B) session, bringing together a visiting Pakistani business delegation and a large number of members of the Rwandan business community to explore new avenues for trade, investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Rwanda Muhammad Naeem Khan, in his inaugural remarks, welcomed the visiting Pakistani business delegation and representatives of the Pakistan Africa Economic Council (PAEC), led by its Patron-in-Chief Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan and Chairman Dr. Shehbaz Ali Malik.
He said the Pakistan-Rwanda Investment Forum 2026 could serve as a catalyst for expanding bilateral economic and trade relations and creating new opportunities for private-sector cooperation.
Ambassador Naeem Khan observed that Pakistan and Rwanda were significant players in their respective regions, representing important economic gateways to South Asia and East Africa. He said stronger connectivity between the two countries could contribute to wider regional economic integration.
The ambassador invited Rwandan businessmen to participate as exhibitors in the Karachi Trade Expo, scheduled for November 23, saying greater participation by the private sectors of both countries would help enhance bilateral trade and investment and encourage the exchange of business delegations.
Addressing the session, Senator Nkubana Alphonse, a member of Rwanda’s Upper House and a friend of Pakistan, welcomed the Pakistani business delegation and appreciated the efforts of both ambassadors to strengthen bilateral economic and commercial relations.
He said Pakistan, with a market of around 250 million people, offered considerable opportunities for economic engagement with Rwanda, a strategically located East African country. Greater business connectivity, he added, could open new avenues for regional geo-economic cooperation.
Recalling his visit to Pakistan, Senator Alphonse said he found the Pakistani people progressive and hospitable and was impressed by visits to manufacturing and industrial units, which, he said, provided an insight into Pakistan’s development potential.
Patron-in-Chief of PAEC Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan said the council was committed to connecting the growing potential of African economies with Pakistan and promoting broader regional economic integration.
He said the changing global environment had made geo-economics and economic diplomacy increasingly important tools for connecting nations through trade and investment. PAEC, he added, had developed short-, medium- and long-term strategies to strengthen Pakistan’s economic engagement with African countries, particularly East Africa.
Ambassador Hamid said the future of global economic cooperation lay increasingly in South-South cooperation, while Africa was emerging as a major destination for investment because of its vast untapped resources and economic opportunities.
Advisor to Chairman Senate Ms. Misbah Khar called for transforming Pakistan-Rwanda economic and trade relations and identified sectors including textiles and agriculture as potential areas for enhanced cooperation.
Chairman Africa House Pakistan Muhammad Rehan Younas highlighted manufacturing, agriculture, leather, coffee and tea as promising sectors where businesses from both countries could develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
The session provided an important platform for direct interaction between Pakistani and Rwandan businesses and highlighted the potential for deeper commercial engagement between South Asia and East Africa.
