The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Joint Check Post at Aman Mela in Dera Ismail Khan, in which personnel of Pakistan Customs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the KP Excise and Taxation Department were martyred and injured while performing their duties.
FBR condemns terrorist attack on Customs check post in DI Khan
ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Joint Check Post at Aman Mela in Dera Ismail Khan, in which personnel of Pakistan Customs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the KP Excise and Taxation Department were martyred and injured while performing their duties.
The FBR said two Pakistan Customs personnel, Havaldar Farman Ullah and Sepoy Usama, embraced martyrdom in the attack, while Inspector Kashif, Sepoy Afaq Adil, Sepoy Mehboob and Sepoy Affan were receiving medical treatment and being provided the best available medical care, said a news release.
The board said the attackers also fired upon an ambulance carrying the injured from the check post, condemning the targeting of wounded personnel and those transporting them.
The FBR expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the martyred Customs personnel, saying Member Customs had issued standing instructions to the Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement) and Collector of Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar, to extend all possible support to the bereaved families.
It said the organisation would continue to support the families in all matters relating to assistance, entitlements and care.
The FBR also expressed condolences to the KP Police and Excise and Taxation Department over the martyrdom of their personnel, saying its officers had served alongside them at the check post and shared their loss.
The board paid tribute to the personnel serving in difficult and dangerous areas, saying Pakistan Customs officers performed duties at border crossings in Balochistan, including Chaman and Taftan, frontier districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, coastal areas and other challenging locations.
It said Customs personnel, alongside the armed forces, Frontier Corps, police and other law enforcement agencies, played a role in preventing the movement of weapons, narcotics, smuggled goods and funds linked to violent activities.
The FBR said the attack would not weaken its resolve or deter its personnel from performing their duties.
“Our posts will remain manned. Our checks will continue. Our officers will return to their positions, as they always have,” the Board said.
The FBR said the sacrifice of Havaldar Farman Ullah and Sepoy Usama placed a debt on this institution that it will honour by continuing their work without fear or hesitation.
It prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the martyrs the highest ranks in Jannah, give patience and strength to their families and grant a swift and complete recovery to the injured.
