LAHORE, Sep 26 (APP):Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has ordered an immediate inquiry into complaints of alleged medical negligence and unprofessional treatment practices at Umar Hospital, a private healthcare facility in Sahiwal.
The minister sought a report from the CEO Health Sahiwal and directed a thorough examination of all relevant facts, including patient treatment, surgical procedures, available medical facilities and the professional credentials of the doctors concerned.
He ordered a comprehensive and impartial inquiry to ascertain the facts at the earliest, directing that legal action be taken against those found responsible if negligence, unlawful medical practice or violations of rules and regulations were established.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the provision of quality and safe healthcare facilities to citizens was the state’s responsibility, adding that negligence involving patients’ lives and health would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said public complaints would be taken seriously and any violation of laws or medical regulations at public or private healthcare institutions would be dealt with strictly and without discrimination.
