A ceremony was held in Islamabad on Thursday to honour Dr. Maqsood Jafri for his literary and academic contributions after he was conferred the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s civil awards, by the government.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP): A ceremony was held in Islamabad on Thursday to honour Dr. Maqsood Jafri for his literary and academic contributions after he was conferred the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s civil awards, by the government.
The event was organised by Bazm-e-Adab Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad.
Renowned intellectual, journalist and former federal information minister Mushahid Hussain Sayed presided over the ceremony, while columnist and former Punjab health minister Dr. Jamal Nasir was the chief guest.
Speakers, including Shafqat Naghmi, Hamid Shahid, Dr. Shazia Akbar, Akram Sohail and Dr. Sher Ali, presented papers highlighting Jafri’s literary and intellectual services.
A large number of writers, poets, journalists, intellectuals and members of civil society attended the ceremony and congratulated Dr. Jafri on receiving the Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
