Traffic awareness campaign launched in educational institutions across DIKhan
Dera Ismail Khan , Sep 26 (APP):On the special directives of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan Ghulam Mubashir Maken, the district police have intensified a traffic awareness campaign in educational institutions to promote road safety and create awareness among students about traffic rules and responsible road behaviour.
As part of the campaign, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Chan Shah visited various educational institutions and sensitised students about essential road safety measures and traffic regulations.
The awareness sessions focused on safe methods of crossing roads, the risks associated with underage driving, dangers of one-wheeling and precautionary measures to help prevent road accidents.
The students were also briefed about the importance of observing traffic rules, using roads responsibly and adopting safe practices while travelling as pedestrians, cyclists or passengers. Particular emphasis was laid on the need for children and young people to avoid driving vehicles before reaching the legally permissible age and to refrain from dangerous activities such as one-wheeling, which can pose serious risks to their own lives and the safety of other road users.
During the visits, traffic police officials distributed awareness pamphlets among students containing basic road safety guidelines and information about traffic rules. The initiative was aimed at enabling students to understand their responsibilities as road users and encouraging them to share the message of road safety with their parents, siblings and other members of their families.
The traffic police officials said that educating students at an early stage could play an important role in developing responsible road behaviour and promoting a culture of compliance with traffic regulations.
They urged students to remain vigilant while crossing roads, avoid unnecessary risks and encourage their families to adopt safe and responsible driving practices.
RPO Ghulam Mubashir Maken said that protection of the younger generation and promotion of road safety awareness remained important priorities of the police. He directed the concerned officials to make awareness activities in educational institutions more effective and expand such initiatives to provide students with practical knowledge about traffic rules and accident prevention.
He said that alongside enforcement against violations, continued public awareness was essential for reducing traffic-related risks and encouraging responsible behaviour among road users.
The campaign would continue in educational institutions to strengthen awareness among students about traffic discipline, safe mobility and the importance of following road safety regulations
