ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP):The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and Ambassador of Portugal Paulo Domingues on Saturday discussed ways to enhance bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, with particular focus on textiles, agriculture, information technology, pharmaceuticals and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
The SIFC hosted the Ambassador of Portugal, for a wide-ranging discussion focused on strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal, according to press release issued by SIFC.
The engagement provided an opportunity to explore areas of mutual interest and identify promising avenues for greater collaboration between the business communities of both countries.
Discussions covered investment opportunities in textiles, agriculture, information and communication technology, pharmaceuticals and Special Economic Zones (SEZs), highlighting the potential for enhanced commercial engagement and investment partnerships.
SIFC briefed the Ambassador on Pakistan’s investment potential across priority sectors and its investor-centric facilitation framework aimed at providing coordinated support to domestic and international investors.
As a whole-of-government platform, SIFC works to facilitate engagement between investors and relevant federal, provincial and sectoral stakeholders, helping streamline investment processes and support the development of viable business opportunities.
The meeting also highlighted opportunities emerging from Pakistan’s growing connectivity with international businesses and institutions.
In this context, SIFC acknowledged the launch of FC Porto’s Dragon Force Academy in Sialkot, established in partnership with Forward Sports. The initiative brings the renowned Portuguese football club’s youth development programme to Pakistan and represents an additional avenue for strengthening institutional and commercial linkages between the two countries.
The engagement underscored the scope for expanding Pakistan-Portugal cooperation through investment, business partnerships and sector-specific opportunities.
SIFC emphasized the importance of continued engagement with international partners to identify commercially viable projects and create stronger linkages between Pakistani and Portuguese investors and businesses.
SIFC reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating international investors through coordinated government support, providing greater clarity on investment opportunities and promoting an enabling environment for mutually beneficial partnerships.
