IUB, Enablers join hands to promote data science, AI, entrepreneurship
BAHAWALPUR, Sep 25 (APP): The Department of Data Science, Faculty of Computing, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), has formalised a collaboration with Enablers, an organisation engaged in entrepreneurship, e-commerce, digital skills development, training, mentorship, and industry-oriented learning.
A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran on behalf of IUB and CEO and Co-Founder of Enablers Saqib Azhar, at a ceremony held at the university. Dr. Faheem Mushtaq Bajwa, Chairman, Department of Data Science and Focal Person for the collaboration, facilitated the partnership.
The collaboration aims to strengthen industry-academia linkages and enhance students’ career development through internships, industry visits, expert talks, mentoring, professional networking and skills development. The partnership will also promote learning and practical exposure in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence and Data Visualization through workshops, boot camps, seminars, guest lectures and hands-on training.
Under the collaboration, both sides will promote entrepreneurship and innovation through startup awareness sessions, hackathons, innovation challenges, mentoring and business-model development. The partnership will also facilitate joint research and applied projects, including Final Year Projects, capstone projects, case studies and data-driven solutions to industry and societal challenges. The collaboration will further support capacity building and knowledge exchange in emerging and responsible technology domains, including responsible AI, data ethics, privacy, cybersecurity awareness and digital safety.
The two organizations will also explore cooperation in conferences, seminars, technology summits, career events, exhibitions, competitions and awareness programmes, besides promoting industry engagement and digital transformation initiatives. They will work towards developing industry-relevant learning resources, practical case studies and other materials to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean Faculty of Computing Professor Dr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Dean Faculty of Chemical and Biological Sciences Professor Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Chairman Department of Statistics Professor Dr. Zawar Hussain, Associate Professor Department of Computer Science Dr. Humaira Arshad, Chairman Department of Data Science and Focal Person Dr. Faheem Mushtaq Bajwa, heads and representatives of Enablers Karachi and Bahawalpur, faculty members from various departments, and university administration officials. The collaboration marks a significant step towards providing students and faculty with greater opportunities for industry exposure, emerging technology skills, entrepreneurship, applied research and professional development, particularly in Data Science and related disciplines.
