No consultation held on Governor’s rule, PTI members getting themselves arrested to avoid long march: Governor KP

PESHAWAR, Sep 25 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi here Friday clarified that no consultation has so far taken place regarding the imposition of Governor’s rule in the province, saying the matter would be discussed when the appropriate time comes.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Faisal Karim Kundi criticized the CM KP for an irrational decision of long march taken it a time when the province was confronted to the monster challenge of terrorism.

He said a police officer was martyred during an operation against terrorists in Peshawar a day earlier, while the PTI-led provincial government was threatening to march on Islamabad instead of focusing on law and order.

“They are threatening to march on Islamabad; I don’t know what they intend to turn Islamabad into,” he said.

Governor Kundi said the constitution provides mechanism for the imposition of Governor’s Rule and that the matter would be discussed at appropriate time. He stressed that no consultation or discussion on the issue of governor rule had taken place so far.

The governor also criticized proposed amendments to the Police Act, claiming that the PTI provincial government wanted to turn the police into a Tiger Force.

“They intend to make the appointments of the IG, DIGs and DPOs themselves. We will stand as a wall against such legislation,” he said.

Asked about PTI’s long march, the KP Governor said that the party was now seeking a way to avoid marching on Islamabad. He claimed that PTI members and leaders were themselves trying to escape the march and getting themselves arrested.

He predicted that PTI would announce the end of its long march either today or tomorrow.
