Dasu-Mansehra transmission line completion expected by June 2028
ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (APP):The 157-kilometre Dasu-Mansehra 765kV transmission line has achieved 46% overall physical progress, with its completion now expected by June 30, 2028.
According to the latest project status for Lot-I, a copy of which is available with Wealth Pakistan, overall financial progress has reached 29.4%, with $97.2 million paid so far.
The package involves the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of an approximately 157-kilometre, 765kV hexa-bundle double-circuit transmission line using ACSR Rail conductor.
The transmission line, running from the Dasu Hydropower Project to the 765kV Mansehra substation, will require around 419 towers along its full length.
Construction has progressed on several fronts. Access-road works have been completed along 118 kilometres, covering locations for 179 towers. Concreting of foundations has been completed for 105 towers, while 60 towers have so far been erected.
Progress has also been recorded in design and procurement. Type tests for D7N, D7M and D7T towers have been completed, while grounding material is reported at 100%.
Supplies already delivered to the site include stubs for 272 towers, 102 towers, around 155,000 insulators, 86 kilometres of conductor, 20 kilometres of optical ground wire (OPGW) and 150 kilometres of earth wire.
Further shipments are expected by October 2026, including stubs for another 33 towers, 47 towers and 19.5 kilometres of conductor, according to the project status.
The contract for Lot-I was signed on December 29, 2022, and became effective on February 10, 2023.
The contractual completion date was June 9, 2026, based on a 40-month implementation period, while the latest project status places the expected completion date at June 30, 2028.
The contract has been awarded to Sinohydro Corporation of China. Its contract price comprises CNY 848.6 million, $23.06 million and Rs 30.032 billion, equivalent to about $330 million at bid-evaluation rates.
GOPA Tech, Germany, is serving as the project design, engineering and supervision consultant.
