ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP): Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court Justice of Pakistan Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan has introduced a new measure to ensure more efficient use of court time and facilitate the speedy disposal of cases by setting a fixed time limit for lawyers’ arguments in the courtroom.
On the Chief Justice’s directions, a stopwatch has been installed in the courtroom to monitor the time allocated to counsel during arguments.
Under the new arrangement, each lawyer will be given 10 minutes to present arguments. Once the allotted time expires, the stopwatch will emit a beep, alerting the counsel that the prescribed time has been completed.
According to judicial sources, the measure is aimed at streamlining court proceedings and helping the court decide cases expeditiously. More effective use of judicial time is also expected to help reduce the backlog of cases and accelerate the disposal process.
The initiative is part of efforts to make judicial proceedings more focused and efficient while ensuring that available court time is utilized effectively.
