PSX turns bearish, loses over 1,730 points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 24 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around to bearish trend on Thursday, losing 1,733.57 points, a negative change of 1.01 percent, to close at 170,498.95 points against 172,232.51 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 759.974 million shares, compared to 773.593 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value increased to Rs27.539 billion from Rs26.453 billion.
Market capitalisation decreased to Rs18.971 trillion from Rs19.178 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 495 companies that traded in the ready market, 101 posted gains, 358 suffered losses, while 36 remained unchanged.
Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 158.261 million shares, followed by K-Electric Ltd. with 71.889 million shares and F. Nat.Equities with 59.942 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Pakistan Engineering Company Limited surged by Rs30.92 to close at Rs643.60, while Khyber Textile Mills Limited advanced by Rs28.18 to settle at Rs1,899.44.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company LimitedB fell by Rs403.11 to close at Rs15,529.22, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs139.99 to Rs24,860.01.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 526.471 million shares with a traded value of Rs21.616 billion, compared with 456.574 million shares worth Rs20.360 billion in the previous session.
Of the 319 companies traded in the DFC market, 29 advanced, 290 declined and 0 remained unchanged.
