KP cabinet approves revised Police Act 2026
PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet on Wednesday approved the revised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act 2026 after incorporating amendments to address reservations raised by cabinet members over various provisions of the proposed legislation.
The approval was given at the 59th cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. The revised draft was finalized following a discussion on the objections and suggestions presented by cabinet members.
Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan said the report of the cabinet’s sub-committee on the proposed Police Act was placed before the meeting.
He said the sub-committee had prepared its recommendations in consultation with police authorities.
The cabinet considered the sub-committee’s recommendations along with further proposals and approved the amended draft, he added.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries and Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The approved draft will now be placed before the provincial assembly in its upcoming session for further legislative proceedings.
