Multan City clinches tehsil-level football tournament title
MULTAN, Sep 23 (APP):Multan City Tehsil defeated Multan Saddar Tehsil 2-0 in the final of the tehsil-level football tournament organised under the Annual Sports Calendar 2026 of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab.
The final was played between City Tehsil Multan and Saddar Tehsil Multan, with City Tehsil securing the title through goals scored by Shiraz Khan and Abdul Hadi.
Divisional Sports Officer Ata-ur-Rehman Khan was the chief guest at the final ceremony. Former Divisional Sports Officer Chaudhry Talib and professional hockey coach Gulzar Pasha were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Ata-ur-Rehman Khan appreciated the cooperation of District Football Association President Mian Javed Qureshi and his team in organising the event. He also lauded Sports Officer Adnan Naeem for promoting sports activities and congratulated him and City Multan Tehsil Sports Officer Noor Khan Qaisrani on the successful event and team’s victory.
Executive Member of the Pakistan Football Federation and international player Abid Hussain, international coach and City Multan team coach Rana Baqar Ali, team manager Asif Lahori, Vice President Haider Qureshi, Hadi Waheed Shah, Nadir Mehmood, Muqeem Sheikh, AFC coach Muslim Yasir, Waheed, Shafqat-ur-Rehman and a large number of spectators attended the final.
The winning team received the winner’s trophy through its captain Abdul Rehman, while the runners-up trophy was received by captain Abdul Rehman Irfan.
Players from both teams displayed an impressive performance during the match. City Multan’s Shiraz Khan and Abdul Hadi scored one goal each. Players including Shahzad, Haroon, Akhtar, Iqraash, Abdullah, Shakeel, Hashim, goalkeeper Haroon, Faqeer Hussain, and members of the losing side Abdul Rehman Irfan, Bilawal, Huzefa, Abubakar, Ibrahim, Hasher and Ilyas also showed good skills.
Refereeing duties were performed by Sajjad Randhawa, Tanveer Ahmed and Dr Gharzain Lahori.
District Football Association President Mian Javed Qureshi congratulated the winning team and urged the losing side to work harder and prepare for future competitions.
