Sherry Rehman condemns rape, murder of three-year-old girl in Jhangi Syedan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman has strongly condemned the tragic incident involving the alleged rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Jhangi Syedan, terming it a heinous act against humanity.

In a statement, Senator Sherry Rehman welcomed the timely arrest of the accused by the police and called for awarding him exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.

She said strict implementation of existing laws was essential to ensure the protection of girls and children from violence and abuse.

Senator Sherry Rehman expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, saying that she shared their grief and that the parents should not be left alone in their hour of sorrow.

She appealed to the court to ensure an expeditious trial of the case and provide justice to the bereaved family.

“Zero tolerance for crimes against children is the only way forward,” she said, adding that every segment of society must play its role in protecting children.

She stressed the need to raise awareness among parents and teachers to help prevent incidents such as the Jhangi Syedan tragedy.

“Perpetrators of such heinous crimes deserve no leniency. Laws are already in place and the law must take its course,” Senator Sherry Rehman said.
