The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned proceedings in a case concerning the termination of 122 employees of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) after the council’s counsel assured the court that their salaries would be released.
IHC adjourns case after PARC assures release of salaries to 122 employees
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned proceedings in a case concerning the termination of 122 employees of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) after the council’s counsel assured the court that their salaries would be released.
Justice Khadim Hussain Somroo was hearing the case. Despite being summoned by the court, PARC Chairman Dr Murtaza Hassan Andrabi did not appear. The council’s counsel informed the court that the chairman was currently abroad.
During the hearing, the PARC counsel gave an undertaking that the salaries of all 122 employees would be released. “Take my undertaking that the institution will release the salaries of these 122 employees,” the counsel told the court, adding that he would not proceed with the case until the employees received their salaries.
In view of the assurance, the court adjourned further hearing until October 9. The 122 PARC employees had approached the court after being terminated from service at the end of July.
