The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued a contempt of court show-cause notice to the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Member Estate for allegedly making a false statement regarding his absence from the court in a case concerning allotment of land to affectees.
IHC issues contempt show-cause notice to CDA Member Estate over alleged misstatement
ISLAMABAD, Sep 23 (APP): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued a contempt of court show-cause notice to the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Member Estate for allegedly making a false statement regarding his absence from the court in a case concerning allotment of land to affectees.
Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar issued the notice while hearing a contempt petition filed over non-implementation of a single-bench judgment in favour of the petitioner.
During the hearing, petitioner’s counsel Hasnain Haider Thaheem submitted that the CDA Member Estate had appeared before another bench of the High Court, while informing the present court that he was unwell.
The counsel produced the attendance sheet showing the CDA official’s appearance before the court of Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas.
Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar observed that there was no option but to issue a contempt notice over the alleged misstatement.
The petitioner’s counsel further submitted that the single bench had already decided the matter in favour of the petitioner and that the petitioner had approached the court for the third time due to non-implementation of the judgment.
The Chief Justice subsequently issued a show-cause notice for contempt of court and adjourned the hearing.
The petitioner had approached the IHC regarding allotment of land to affectees and later filed the contempt petition alleging that the court’s judgment had not been implemented.
