Governor Kundi stresses public-friendly power services

PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday emphasized the need for public-friendly electricity services in the province.

He also called on WAPDA and PESCO officials to adopt a sympathetic approach towards consumers, particularly in the underprivileged districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Paharpur.

He expressed these views during a meeting with PESCO Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan and Head of Grid Stations Habib ur Rehman Khan at the Governor House.

During the meeting, matters relating to PESCO operations and grid stations across the province came under discussion.

The Governor was briefed on the progress regarding installation of WAPDA transmission lines and electricity poles in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The officials also informed the Governor about theft of transformers, transmission lines and other electrical equipment, besides highlighting legal complications being faced in taking action against such incidents.

The meeting reviewed progress on the inauguration of the Band Korai Grid Station and ongoing developments related to the Dera Ismail Khan Grid-II project.

Governor Kundi termed the establishment of a Circle Training Centre in Dera Ismail Khan as essential for strengthening the capacity of the power utility’s workforce.

He urged PESCO and WAPDA officials to ensure courteous and compassionate dealings with consumers, especially poor residents of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Paharpur, and directed them to prioritize public convenience while delivering electricity services.
