Punjab Council of the Arts hosts seminar, Sufi music session

RAWALPINDI, Sep 23 (APP):The Punjab Council of the Arts, Rawalpindi, organized a seminar and Sufi music session on “Silsila-e-Chishtia: Role in Spiritual Values and Cultural Formation” here.

Pir Muhammad Mujtaba Farooq Gul Badshah, Sajjada Nashin of Mohra Sharif, Rawalpindi, presided over the seminar, while Muhammad Saad-ur-Rehman Naqshbandi of Astana-e-Aalia Eidgah Sharif, Rawalpindi, attended as chief guest.

Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir was the speaker. The participants highlighted the role of spirituality and Sufi traditions in the cultural and social development of the region.

Addressing the gathering, Pir Muhammad Mujtaba Farooq Gul Badshah said the Sufi saints had played an important role in the intellectual and moral development of society by promoting love, peace, tolerance and humanity.

He said Sufi teachings were still important for promoting tolerance, brotherhood and positive thinking in society.

Muhammad Saad-ur-Rehman Naqshbandi said spiritual values were an important part of the cultural identity and heritage of the region. He stressed the need to acquaint the younger generation with their spiritual and Sufi heritage.

Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of Samaa and the influence of Sufi traditions in the subcontinent. He said the teachings of Sufi saints had contributed to the development of the region’s culture and civilization and promoted the values of love, peace, tolerance and humanity.

The second session featured a Sufi music performance by renowned Qawwal Asad Abbas and his companions, who presented Sufi poetry. The performance created a spiritual atmosphere, and the audience appreciated the artists.

Director Punjab Council of the Arts, Rawalpindi, Muhammad Shakoor, said spiritual and Sufi traditions were an important part of the region’s cultural heritage.

He said such activities helped connect the younger generation with their rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
