Tarar vows to expand PML-N organisation in KP, questions PTI’s governance record
PESHAWAR, Sep 23 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would expand its organisational activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and remain actively engaged with the people and party workers.
Addressing party workers after inaugurating the PML-N office of Jalal Khan here, he said the new office would serve as a platform for workers to strengthen the party organisation and maintain regular contact with the public.
Tarar questioned the performance of the PTI-led provincial governments during their nearly 14-and-a-half years in power and asked the party leadership to present its record of service before the people of KP and Peshawar.
He criticised PTI leaders for what he described as political confrontation and alleged that some of them avoided arrest during police actions. In contrast, he said, PML-N leaders had faced arrests and difficult political circumstances while continuing their political activities.
The minister also criticised PTI leaders over their positions on development projects of PMLN, saying the provincial government had eventually pursued initiatives similar to those it had previously criticised. Referring to the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project, he said the PTI government had to undertake the project despite its earlier criticism of the Metro bus service in Lahore.
Referring to former KP chief minister Mahmood Khan, Tarar said political statements made by PTI leaders had sometimes been followed by changes in their positions.
He said political parties should compete through their performance and programmes rather than confrontation.
Tarar said PML-N governments had contributed to infrastructure, education, health and energy development in KP, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was continuing the development approach of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
He said the PML-N would focus on education, healthcare, sports facilities and infrastructure development in KP and continue its political activities across the province.
The minister said he would maintain contact with party leaders, including Amir Muqam, and consult them on strengthening the party organisation and promoting development in the province.
He also referred to his recent visits to Kohat and Akora Khattak, saying the PML-N was pursuing a positive political approach by remaining among workers, journalists and families affected by recent incidents.
Former KP governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Prime Minister’s aide and PML-N leader Ikhtiar Wali Khan, Ali Khadim Hussain, MPAs Jalal Khan and Tariq Awan and other party leaders and workers attended the gathering.
