RAWALPINDI, Sep 22 (APP):Field teams deployed under the ongoing district-wide anti-polio campaign successfully vaccinated 223,690 households on the opening day, achieving a 91 percent administrative coverage rate across Rawalpindi district, officials revealed during an executive performance review on Tuesday.
Presiding over the progress meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir, along with Chief Executive Officer Health Dr. Ehsan Ghani and Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Fazail Mudassar, evaluated tehsil level field reports, micro-plan compliance and missed-child tracking mechanisms.
Detailed campaign metrics submitted to the chair showed that field vaccinators executed immediate catch-up drives on day one to cover 33,400 previously missed children, while 24,092 children remained temporarily unreached.
Simultaneously, dedicated transit and fixed site teams administered oral polio drops to 87,080 children at bus terminals, public transit hubs, schools and health facilities.
It was informed that the surveillance teams also identified 883 zero-dose kids and flagged four cases of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) for diagnostic investigation. The district health monitoring teams audited 40 operational clusters across 27 union councils, recording a recall vaccination coverage rate of 92.42 percent.
Directing health department supervisors to sustain field vigilance, DC ordered zero-tolerance catch-up operations to eliminate missed-child backlogs across all tehsils.
Reaffirming that total eradication demands complete population coverage, he instructed district departments to resolve field bottlenecks instantly and ensure no child under five years of age misses vaccination before the conclusion of the four-day drive.
