PSX gains over 248 points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a positive trend on Tuesday, gaining 248.92 points, a positive change of 0.15 percent, to close at 171,402.08 points against 171,153.17 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 641.834 million shares, compared to 692.884 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value decreased to Rs18.466 billion from Rs20.100 billion.
Market capitalisation increased to Rs19.093 trillion from Rs19.041 trillion recorded a day earlier. Out of 494 companies that traded in the ready market, 226 posted gains, 221 suffered losses, while 47 remained unchanged.
Tasdeeq Information led the volume chart with 133.189 million shares, followed by Media Times Ltd with 72.720 million shares and WorldCall Telecom with 48.572 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited surged by Rs250.00 to close at Rs25,250.00, while Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited advanced by Rs42.14 to settle at Rs1,405.47.
On the losing side, PIA Holding Company LimitedB fell by Rs276.95 to close at Rs15,673.05, while Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering declined by Rs80.27 to Rs1,620.10.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 505.609 million shares with a traded value of Rs17.489 billion, compared with 368.488 million shares worth Rs15.354 billion in the previous session.
Of the 319 companies traded in the DFC market, 153 advanced, 156 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
