PM contacts JI Amir, urges postponement of Islamabad sit-in
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Tuesday, held a telephonic conversation with Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and urged him to postpone his party’s planned sit-in in Islamabad.
The prime minister said the government was providing relief on petroleum products to economically vulnerable and middle-class segments of society in these difficult circumstances, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
The prime minister is currently in New York to attend UNGA 81st Session.
He further assured that the government would continue to ensure maximum possible relief to the people.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman welcomed the prime minister’s proposal and said that JI was considering postponement of its sit-in.
The two leaders agreed to meet after the PM’s visit abroad and continue consultations on the matter.
