PSCA helps arrest suspect for harassing girl
LAHORE, Sep 21 (APP):Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), through its Virtual Centre for Child Safety, helped police arrest a suspect allegedly involved in harassing a minor girl in Baghbanpura following a complaint received through Emergency Helpline 15.
According to a PSCA spokesperson on Monday, the girl’s mother contacted Police Emergency Helpline 15 and reported that her daughter had allegedly been subjected to harassment and inappropriate behaviour by a man while travelling to and from school.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Virtual Centre for Child Safety promptly intervened and established a conference call between the girl’s mother and the concerned police officials, ensuring immediate coordination and communication of the complaint to the police.
Following the information provided through Safe City and timely coordination, police took immediate action and arrested the alleged suspect. A case was also registered on the complaint, while further legal proceedings were underway.
The spokesperson said the Virtual Centre for Child Safety provided immediate assistance, guidance and coordination with police to families reporting cases involving children. The centre was using modern technology and rapid-response mechanisms to facilitate timely intervention in child safety cases.
The spokesperson urged parents to educate children about personal safety and encourage them to immediately report any threat, harassment or suspicious behaviour to their parents or relevant authorities.
Citizens were also advised to call Emergency Helpline 15 in case of any harassment, threat or emergency involving a child and press 2 to connect with the Virtual Centre for Child Safety.
