SHC stays appointment of 3 GMs in SIDA
HYDERABAD, Sep 21 (APP):The Sindh High Court (SHC) has stayed appointments on 3 posts of BPS-19 General Managers in the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority (SIDA) while putting SIDA and Sindh government on notice for September 30.
“The subject appointments should not be finalized without permission of this court,” the order, given on Monday, read.
Advocate Muhammad Saulat Rizvi, counsel of petitioners Syed Muhammad Ali Shah and others, apprised the court that posts were not gazette notified after recent reversion of the grade from BPS-20 to BPS-19.
He also argued that the petitioners’ opportunity of elevation to the next grade was also being denied because the posts were being filled through hiring from the market.
Advocate Rizvi contended that avoiding gazette notification of the said post prior to the advertisement and the hiring process also amounted to violating a judgment of the Supreme Court.
The SHC adjourned the hearing to September 30 while issuing notices to the respondents to submit a reply.
