Rs 3 bln recoverable from violations along Islamabad Expressway, says CDA
ISLAMABAD, Sep 21 (APP):The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has identified violations involving around Rupees three billion in recoverable land conversion charges and penalties along the Islamabad Expressway East, where action has been initiated against 377 structures, including 281 commercial buildings.
The recoveries relate to unauthorised construction and violations involving land use, setbacks, floor area ratio (FAR) and covered area, according to the authority.
The CDA’s Building Control Section, in coordination with the Enforcement Directorate and district administration, has launched a sealing, regularisation and demolition operation along the Expressway.
More than 140 structures have so far been proceeded against under the applicable building control regulations, the CDA said.
The operation covers the stretch from Soan Dehati through Iqbal Town, Khanna Pull and Koral Bridge towards Koral and Gulberg Greens.
The authority said 124 structures between Soan and Khanna Pull had been identified and demarcated for demolition, with demolition activity already under way.
Around Rs 720 million was recovered during a previous enforcement drive, while approximately Rs100m has so far been recovered during the ongoing operation, the CDA said.
It added that sealed premises would remain closed until the identified violations were rectified and the required legal and regularisation formalities completed, subject to approval by the competent authority.
The CDA said enforcement action would continue against violations to ensure compliance with building and land-use regulations along the major corridor.
