ESSI governing body approves Rs4.764 billion budget
PESHAWAR, Sep 21 (APP):The governing body of the Employees Social Security Institution (ESSI) on Monday approved a budget of Rs4,764.318 million and endorsed an 11-point agenda at its 88th meeting.
The meeting, chaired by Provincial Minister for Labour Faisal Khan Tarakai, reviewed financial, administrative and welfare matters concerning the institution and approved the agenda after detailed deliberations.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said the provincial government was taking practical measures to promote transparency, merit and good governance in public institutions. He said a zero-tolerance policy against corruption was being enforced and no malpractice would be tolerated at any level.
He directed the authorities to improve the quality of services being provided to workers and their families under the ESSI and ensure that institutional resources were used effectively for their welfare.
Faisal Khan Tarakai said workers played a vital role in the national economy and their rights, social security, healthcare and welfare remained among the government’s priorities.
He also directed the relevant authorities to improve the institution’s performance and service delivery and ensure timely resolution of public complaints.
Members of the governing body and senior officials of the Labour Department and ESSI attended the meeting, which also discussed various financial, administrative and welfare matters and issued necessary directions for implementation of the approved agenda.
