SNGPL disconnects 47 meters, checks 930 locations in Multan

MULTAN, Sep 21 (APP):The UFG Control Task Force Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) intensified its ongoing crackdown on gas theft, illegal usage and technical violations across Multan and disconnected 47 metres over violations.

According to the latest and weekly operational figures, the task force has checked 930 locations

in different areas of Multan, resulting in the disconnection of 47 gas meters over serious violations of rules and regulations.

The action included disconnection of 19 meters for illegal use of compressors, comprising 11 meters in previous operations and eight in recent checks. Illegal extensions were removed at six locations, while eight meters were disconnected for being installed in reverse.

The task force also disconnected five meters being used for commercial purposes and two over illegal

shifting. Five meters were disconnected at consumers’ own requests, one due to being located

away from the service area, while one case involved direct use of gas without a meter.

SNGPL officials said the ongoing operations were aimed at curbing gas theft, restoring pressure in the system, addressing public complaints promptly and ensuring uninterrupted and safe gas supply to consumers.

The General Manager SNGPL Multan stressed that the safety of consumers and protection of lives

and property was top priority. He urged consumers to check for any smell of gas before using gas appliances.

In case of a gas leak or smell, consumers should immediately open all doors and windows and avoid switching on any electrical or gas-operated appliance.

He said strict and indiscriminate legal action against gas theft and other illegal activities would continue to ensure safe and quality services for all consumers.
