Rama Pir festival highlights religious harmony, tolerance in Pakistan

SANGHAR, Sep 21 (APP):Member of the National Peace Committee Pakistan Rajesh Kumar Hardasani has said that the annual Rama Pir festival is a fine example of religious harmony, tolerance and freedom of religion in Pakistan.

He was speaking while attending the annual festival of Sant Rama Pir, which drew thousands of Hindu devotees from different parts of the country. Many pilgrims travelled on foot in groups to reach Tando Allahyar, carrying Pakistani flags. Local residents along the routes welcomed them with respect and hospitality.

Mr Hardasani said minority communities in Pakistan enjoyed equal rights under the Constitution and were free to observe their religious festivals and rituals. He said the Rama Pir festival conveyed a message of interfaith respect, brotherhood and national unity.

“Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pak Army Zindabad” slogans were also raised during the festival, while special prayers were offered for the security and prosperity of Pakistan and for the armed forces. The administration had made elaborate security arrangements for the event. Members of the festival management committee were also present.

Members of the Hindu community expressed gratitude to the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister and, in particular, Field Marshal Gen Syed Asim Munir for their support for the protection and rights of the community.

They said the Hindu community would continue to play a positive role in promoting peace, development, prosperity and national unity in Pakistan.
