EPA launches field inspection teams to strengthen environmental compliance

LAHORE, Sep 20 (APP):The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Sunday launched operations of its field inspection teams to ensure transparency, accuracy and effective enforcement of environmental regulations.
EPA officials told APP that the field teams would conduct site inspections, collect data and carry out regulatory checks to protect natural resources and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
They said the initiative would help strengthen field inspections, with inspectors equipped with body cameras during official duties to enhance transparency, accountability, and enforcement. The activities of the teams would also be accessible to relevant competent authorities through mobile phones.
The officials said the teams would collect samples of air, water and soil to assess pollution and contamination levels. They would also inspect industrial facilities, natural habitats and construction sites to assess environmental safety and ensure that businesses and development projects comply with environmental protection laws.
The teams would further utilise modern digital tools and monitoring stations to track environmental changes over time and support data-based decision-making
