ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has arrested a proclaimed offender from Gujrat after 14 years on the run in a Rs1.665 million fraud case involving a promise to send the complainant’s brother to France.
An FIA official told APP on Sunday that the accused, Abdul Rehman Abid Sahi, son of Muhammad Hussain, was wanted in Case No. 184/12 and had remained absconding since the registration of the case.
The official said the accused allegedly received Rs 1.665 million from the complainant on the promise of sending his brother to France, but neither fulfilled the commitment nor returned the money.
Following registration of the case, the accused allegedly went into hiding and continued changing his locations to avoid arrest.
The FIA team traced him after sustained efforts and investigation and finally arrested him in Gujrat.
The operation was carried out by a team led by Inspector Zahid Bhatti, along with ASI Rafiq and Head Constable Alam Zeb.
The FIA Islamabad Zone said that regardless of how long an accused remained on the run, efforts to trace and bring proclaimed offenders before the law would continue.
