AARI reviews Rabi 2026-27 research programme, calls for stronger coordination
ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (APP):The Annual Programme of Research Work of the Agronomic Research Institute (ARI) for Rabi 2026-27 was held at the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Faisalabad, to review proposed research trials and improve coordination among scientists, universities, private companies and farmers.
The programme was chaired by AARI Chief Scientist Agriculture (Research) Dr Sajid-ur-Rehman, said a press release.
The meeting was attended by representatives of provincial and federal research and adaptive research organisations, universities, Crop Reporting Service, Regional Agricultural Economic Development Centre (RAEDC), private companies and the farming community.
Representatives from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, COMSATS Vehari, Thal Limited’s Jute Division, Green Gold Agri Seeds and Tri Seed Company Rahim Yar Khan also participated.
ARI Faisalabad Chief Scientist Dr Naveed Akhtar presented the institute’s major achievements and ongoing research activities.
Sajid-ur-Rehman appreciated the institute’s achievements, particularly its success in securing research projects and seed production. He also welcomed the strong participation of stakeholders in the annual research programme.
He stressed better research planning, timely conduct of field trials and closer coordination among research institutions, universities, adaptive research bodies, private companies and farmers.
He said such cooperation would help make agricultural research more practical, effective and useful for the farming community.
Later, the heads of eight research sections and stations presented their proposed research trials. The session chairs, scientists and other participants discussed the proposals in detail.
The stakeholders took keen interest in the proposed trials and offered suggestions to make the research programmes more relevant to farmers’ needs and practical agricultural challenges.
