ISLAMABAD, Sep 19 (APP):Pakistan’s No. 1 internationally ranked junior Mikaeel Ali Baig has captured the ITF J200 doubles title in Miki, Japan, becoming what is believed to be the first Pakistani junior in more than three decades to win a title at this level since Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.
Playing unseeded alongside his partner from Botswana, Mikaeel produced an outstanding run, defeating the No. 2 seeds, No. 3 seeds and No. 1 seeds, before defeating the top-seeded Australian pair 7-5, 6-2 in the final, said a press release.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), Col. (R) Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary-General PTF, and the entire PTF management have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mikaeel on this outstanding achievement and for raising Pakistan’s flag high on the international stage.
