Pakistan business delegation heads to Rwanda as Kigali pushes for stronger economic Partnership

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP):High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, H.E. Harerimana Fatou, has called for stronger economic and investment relations with Pakistan, with a Pakistani business delegation set to participate in the Rwanda-Pakistan Investment Forum in Kigali from September 23rd to 25th.
The upcoming visit was announced at a press conference hosted by the Rwanda High Commission in Pakistan, where High Commissioner H.E. Harerimana Fatou called for a new phase of economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade, investment, technology, manufacturing and business-to-business partnerships.
The Rwanda High Commission in Pakistan on Friday hosted a press conference to announce the upcoming visit of a Pakistani business delegation to Kigali for the Rwanda-Pakistan Investment Forum, being held from September 23rd to 25th 2026.
The press conference was addressed by H.E. Harerimana Fatou, High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, followed by remarks from Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Patron-in-Chief, Pakistan Africa Economic Council (PAEC).
The High Commissioner said diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Pakistan date back to 1962, and emphasized that both countries now have an opportunity to expand their longstanding relationship into broader commercial and investment cooperation.
Harerimana encouraged Pakistani companies to consider Rwanda not only as a growing market but also as a potential base for production, joint ventures and expansion into the wider African market.
She highlighted Rwanda’s investor-friendly environment, including its one-stop investment facilitation services through the Rwanda Development Board, visa-on-arrival arrangements for citizens of more than 90 countries, and various tax incentives available to investors.
The High Commissioner also stressed Rwanda’s interest in technology transfer and closer cooperation with Pakistani businesses. She said the proposed Rwanda-Pakistan Bilateral Trade Agreement would represent an important step toward creating a stronger institutional framework for bilateral trade and investment.
Addressing the press conference, former Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Africa Economic Council (PAEC), Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, said the investment forum would provide Pakistani businesses with an opportunity to explore new avenues for engagement with Africa.
Khan noted that East African economies, including Rwanda, are attracting growing international interest and investment.
He pointed to Rwanda’s security and stability, skilled workforce, competitive operating environment, land availability and relatively low energy costs as factors that could create opportunities for Pakistani investors.
He said the participation of the Pakistani business delegation could open avenues for increased trade, investment and employment opportunities, particularly for Pakistan’s skilled workforce and young professionals.
The delegation will hold meetings with Rwandan government institutions, business leaders, investors and private-sector representatives during its visit.
Discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, joint ventures, technology cooperation, manufacturing and other areas of mutual commercial interest.
The signing of a bilateral trade agreement is expected to be a key milestone of the visit, potentially providing a foundation for expanded commercial engagement between the two countries.
The Rwanda High Commission expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen business-to-business links and help translate the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Rwanda into greater economic cooperation.
With the Pakistani delegation preparing to travel to Kigali, both sides are positioning the investment forum as an opportunity to open a new chapter in bilateral economic relations and build mutually beneficial partnerships across trade, investment and technology.
