CM Maryam inaugurates Lahore Auto Show

LAHORE, Sep 18 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the Pakistan International Auto Show 2026 at the Expo Centre Lahore, formally launching the three-day event featuring leading local and international automobile companies.

The chief minister held an informal meeting with industrialists associated with the automobile industry and appreciated their contribution to national economic development. She said the automotive industry was an important source of industrial development, investment and employment, adding that the Punjab government was committed to promoting local production, investment, technology and innovation. She said the auto show would help promote business linkages, investment and technology transfer.

Representatives of the electric vehicle and tractor manufacturing industries appreciated the Green Taxi, CM Bike and Green Tractor schemes. They said the initiatives had supported local manufacturing and provided a boost to the tractor and electric vehicle sectors. After the inauguration, the chief minister visited various stalls, inspected electric vehicles and showed keen interest in an electric ambulance. She also examined the latest vehicles, bikes and generators, inspected Suzuki’s biogas model and interacted with foreign experts at Honda, Suzuki and other stalls.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated the quality of “Made in Pakistan” products. PAAPAM Chairman Usman Aslam Malik, Chief Organizer Syed Nabeel Hashmi and others briefed her about the exhibition. The auto show is being held in four halls of the Expo Centre with 150 exhibitors, including 44 international and 43 local exhibitors. Prominent brands, including Suzuki, Kia, GAC, Chery, Sazgar, BYD, G-Tour, Hyundai and Honda, have set up stalls displaying cars, motorcycles, electric and semi-electric vehicles and locally manufactured auto parts.
