Textile export increases 5.55% to $3.379 bln during July-August 2026

Textile exports witnessed an increase of 5.55 per cent during the first two months of the current financial year (2026-27) as compared to the same months of last year.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP):Textile exports witnessed an increase of 5.55 per cent during the first two months of the current financial year (2026-27) as compared to the same months of last year.
The textile exports from the country were recorded at US $3.379 billion during July-August (2026-27) against the exports of US $3.202 billion during July-August (2025-26), according to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The textile commodities that contributed in trade growth included cotton yarn, the export of which increased by 34.80 percent to $160.679 million from $119.195 million, while knitwear export surged by 4.79 percent to $1,004 million from $958.634 million.
The other commodities that witnessed growth in trade included towels, the export of which rose by 6.74 percent to $191.135 million from $179.063 million, ready-made garments up by 13.59 percent to $827.001 million from $728.088 million, made up articles (excl. towels and bed wear) increased by 6.95 percent to $146.032 million from $136.540 million, and the export of other textile materials surged by 3.91 percent to $133.153 million from $128.140 million.
The textile commodities that witnessed negative growth in trade included cotton cloth, the exports of which declined by 7.66 percent, from $299.180 million to $276.255 million, whereas the export of yarn other than cotton yarn also dipped by 31.78 percent from 5.938 million to $4.051 million.
Likewise, the export of bed wear came down by 0.31 percent from $565.322 million to $563.545 million, tents, canvas and tarpaulin dipped by 7.17 percent from $16.026 million to $14.877 million, and art, silk and synthetic textile by 11.33 percent from $66.131 million to $58.638 million.
Meanwhile, year-on-year basis, the exports of textile went up by 2.77 per cent during the month of August 2026 as compared to the same month of last year.
The exports of textiles from the country during August 2026 were recorded at US $1,565.841 million against the export of US $1,523.635 million in August 2025.
On a month-on-month basis, textile exports from the country fell by 13.68 per cent during August 2026 as compared to the exports of $1,814.076 million recorded in July 2026, the PBS data revealed.
