Pakistan to go to any extent for security of Saudi Arabia with both ‘diplomatic, physical’ support: DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP):Reaffirming Pakistan’s unconditional commitment to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has categorically said that Pakistan will go to any extent to defend the sovereignty of KSA.

“Pakistan fully stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both diplomatically and physically. And I would like to underscore here the word ‘physically’,” he said in an interview with Arab News.

The DG ISPR said, “Pakistan is already there [KSA] and will continue to be there to ensure the protection of Haramain Sharifain and Saudi Arabia,” he said.

“We will go to any extent for the security of Haramain Sharifain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—to any extent as asked and required by our Saudi brothers,” Ahmed Sharif said.

He said, “It should be clear that the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Saudi brothers and sisters. There should be no doubt about it.”

“So, in a nutshell, we are there and will continue to defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any aggression,” he said.

He said that our commitment to Saudi security is unconditional. It stems from a deep-rooted, historical and unbreakable bond between the people of Pakistan and the people of Saudi Arabia, and between the political and military leaderships of both countries, he said.

The DG ISPR said that the political and military leaderships of both countries remained in continuous contact and engagement with the Saudi leadership.

He said that, at the same time, Pakistan was working very earnestly and sincerely, with the help of regional countries and others, to find a negotiated, peaceful outcome of this complex situation.

He said Pakistan is fulfilling the commitments and pledges it has made not only under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement but also under the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement.
