DC,DPO reviews restoration work on Khayyam Chowk flyover

Deputy Commissioner(DC),Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry and District Police Officer(DPO),Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem on Friday visited Khayyam Chowk Flyover in the early morning and reviewed the ongoing restoration, construction and repair work on the flyover.

SARGODHA, Sep 18 (APP):Deputy Commissioner(DC),Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry and District Police Officer(DPO),Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem on Friday visited Khayyam Chowk Flyover in the early morning and reviewed the ongoing restoration, construction and repair work on the flyover.
XEN Highways Malik Gulfam Awan and Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Ahmed Bilal Makhdoom were also present on the occasion.
The district officers were given a detailed briefing about the restoration,repair,carpeting,railing,lighting and other construction and beautification works being carried out at the flyover.
The officials were informed that a renovation project costing around Rs.60 million was underway,under which new carpeting of the flyover,repair of damaged portions and pillars,replacement and repair of old railings,restoration and improvement of lighting and other necessary construction works were being carried out.
The briefing further revealed that renovation of Khayyam Chowk was also part of the project,aimed at improving the city’s important and busiest intersection and flyover and making it more attractive and convenient for citizens.
The DC directed the concerned authorities to further accelerate the pace of work and ensure that construction activities continued on a daily basis so that the project could be completed before the stipulated deadline.
He said Khayyam Chowk was an important traffic point and a major entrance route to the city.
He noted that ongoing construction work on the flyover was causing inconvenience to citizens and stressed that unnecessary delay in completion of the project would not be tolerated.
The DPO reviewed traffic flow arrangements on both sides beneath the flyover and assessed the prevailing traffic pressure.
He directed the concerned traffic authorities to deploy additional personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction and further improve traffic management arrangements.
