Uzbekistan condemns attempted drone attack toward Mecca, calls for restraint
ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP):Uzbekistan has strongly condemned an attempted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack directed toward the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, expressing solidarity with the Kingdom and calling for restraint amid rising regional tensions.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan said any action threatening holy sites, civilians or civilian infrastructure is unacceptable, said a release issued here by embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad here on Thursday.
“We express our full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the ministry said, while emphasizing the importance of protecting holy sites and civilian populations.
Uzbekistan also called on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, adhere strictly to international law, and respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
The ministry said it supports diplomatic and other efforts aimed at reducing tensions, preventing further expansion of the conflict and promoting peace, security and stability across the region.
The statement underscores Uzbekistan’s call for de-escalation and respect for international law as regional tensions continue to pose risks to civilians and critical infrastructure.
