CM Maryam inaugurates electric bus service in Multan

LAHORE, Sep 17 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the electric bus service in Multan, formally launching the project to provide modern and environment-friendly public transport facilities to citizens.

The Chief Minister boarded an electric bus from the e-bus stop established at Agro Mall on Shujaabad Road and travelled to Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, where a ceremony was held. She received a warm welcome from thousands of children, youth, students and elderly people along Old Shujaabad Road, while rose petals were showered on her vehicle and children carrying flowers and her pictures walked alongside.

Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar briefed the gathering about the project. In the first phase, 45 electric buses will operate on routes including Vehari Chowk-Nishtar Hospital, Ghanta Ghar-Ibn-e-Sina Hospital, Dera Adda via DHA-Women University-e-Khidmat Centre and Chungi No. 9-Nag Shah-NADRA Abad Phatak. Services will also operate between Vehari Chowk and Qasim Bela and Ghanta Ghar and Qadirpur Raan. Overall, 160 electric buses will operate in different cities and areas of Multan Division in the first phase, while a total of 205 buses will eventually operate across the division.
