PSX turns bullish, gains over 1,021 points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bullish trend on Thursday, gaining 1,021.40 points, a positive change of 0.61 percent, to close at 169,043.20 points against 168,021.80 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 386.368 million shares, compared to 356.138 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value increased to Rs20.091 billion from Rs19.487 billion.
Market capitalisation increased to Rs18.847 trillion from Rs18.721 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 500 companies that traded in the ready market, 296 posted gains, 152 suffered losses, while 52 remained unchanged, reflecting an overall bullish momentum in the market.
Media Times Ltd led the volume chart with 42.159 million shares, followed by Cnergyico PK with 25.967 million shares and Naya Nazimabad with 15.726 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited surged by Rs758.17 to close at Rs24,800.00, while PIA Holding Company Limited-B gained Rs266.00 to settle at Rs16,266.00.
On the losing side, Hoechst Pakistan Limited fell by Rs88.76 to close at Rs3,861.54, while Buxly Paints Limited declined by Rs59.50 to Rs573.93.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 89.083 million shares with a traded value of Rs5.594 billion, compared with 92.834 million shares worth Rs6.172 billion in the previous session.
Of the 299 companies traded in the DFC market, 228 advanced, 65 declined, and six remained unchanged.
