Russian language course begins at FUUAST
ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP):A Russian language course has started at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad. An orientation session for the Russian language class was held on Thursday, September 17.
Mr. Dolgov Anton, Vice Dean of Ural State Pedagogical University, attended the orientation and also conducted the first class. More than 100 students from different departments of FUUAST have registered for the one month beginner level Russian language course. Two classes will be held every week, taught by two Russian instructors.
Speaking at the orientation session, Deputy Director ORIC, FUUAST, Dr Faisal Javaid thanked the Russian government and Ural State Pedagogical University for providing students of the Federal Urdu University an opportunity to learn the Russian language.
He said students from all disciplines, including social sciences and natural sciences should learn languages other than Urdu and English.
Learning other languages helps students develop a better understanding of the world.
He said FUUAST has already been working with Russian universities on research projects and seminars.
Now the Russian language course will further strengthen these academic ties.
Mr. Anton said Ural State Pedagogical University is starting Russian language teaching programmes in different countries, including Indonesia and Pakistan. He said the initiative would not only help Pakistani youth learn Russian but would also promote cultural and educational relations between Pakistan and Russia.
“Pakistan is a wonderful country. We are happy to teach our language to Pakistani students and build stronger relations with them,” he said.
After the orientation session, the first Russian language class was held. A large number of students from different departments, including attended the class. The students showed great interest in learning Russian and expressed their happiness at getting the opportunity to study the language.
Vice Chancellor FUUAST, Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari said in a statement that Federal Urdu University is providing its students with opportunities to connect with the international community.
He encouraged students to benefit from this important opportunity. He also appreciated the joint academic and cultural efforts of the FUUAST ORIC and Ural State Pedagogical University.
