LAHORE, Sep 16 (APP):Pakistan U19 produced a commanding all-round performance to beat England U19 by 200 runs in the fourth and final one-day match at Sir Paul Getty’s Ground in Wormsley on Wednesday, completing a 3-1 series win.
After opting to bat first, Pakistan posted an imposing 350 for four in their allotted 50 overs before dismissing England for 150 in just 20.4 overs.
Openers Usman Khan and Jahangir Bilal provided Pakistan with a solid start, adding 148 runs for the first wicket. Both batters scored 79, with Usman’s innings coming off 93 balls and featuring nine fours and a six, while Jahangir struck 13 fours during his 81-ball stay at the crease.
Pakistan continued to dominate through the middle and latter stages of the innings. Ahmed Hussain scored a fluent 63 off 53 balls, including eight fours and a six, while captain Farhan Yousaf produced an unbeaten 80 off just 54 balls.
Farhan’s innings featured eight fours and three sixes as Pakistan reached 350 for four. Hamza Zahoor remained unbeaten on seven off two balls.
In turn, England made a brisk start, but Pakistan’s bowlers quickly took control of the contest.
Isaac Mohammed scored 32 off 20 balls, while captain Ralphie Albert top-scored with 46 off 24 balls. Their dismissals, however, triggered a batting collapse as the hosts slipped from 81 for two to 150 all out.
Ahmed capped an impressive all-round performance by returning figures of three for 16 in 2.4 overs. Niqab Shafiq, Mohammad Sayyam and Jahangir grabbed two wickets apiece for the winning team.
The emphatic win ensured Pakistan U19 finished the one-day series on a high, clinching it 3-1 after going down by two runs in the third match.
Earlier on the tour, England U19 had won the only four-day match, played in Arundel from 2 to 5 September by 10 runs.
