Uzbekistan’s media delegation explores Pakistan’s diplomatic, media landscape
ISLAMABAD, Sep 16 (APP):A nine-member Uzbek media delegation, comprising representatives of print and electronic media, continued its eight-day visit to Pakistan with visits to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan Television (PTV), and leading private news channels.
The delegation began its Pakistan visit by touring the Pakistan Monument at Shakarparian and the iconic Faisal Mosque on the first day.
The visits provided the Uzbek journalists an opportunity to experience some of Islamabad’s most prominent cultural and architectural landmarks.
On the second day, the delegation visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where it met Senior Diplomat and Director General, Central Asia Hassan Ali Zaigham and experts on Central Asia and other senior Foreign Office officials on Wednesday.
The Uzbek journalists were briefed on regional developments as well as the longstanding bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
During the interaction, members of the Uzbek media delegation appreciated Pakistan’s evolving regional partnerships, including its trilateral defence cooperation with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
The Pakistani officials highlighted the deep-rooted historical, religious and cultural ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, emphasizing that relations between the two countries are strengthened by centuries-old cultural similarities and shared traditions. The meeting also focused on expanding bilateral economic and trade relations.
Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing economic cooperation and developing stronger avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
DG, CARs, Hassan Ali Zaigham underlined the significant role of the media in strengthening relations between the two countries.
He said media organizations and journalists could contribute greatly to creating awareness about bilateral relations, cultural similarities and opportunities for cooperation.
He also welcomed the visit of the Uzbek media delegation, describing it as a valuable opportunity to promote greater understanding and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Following the Foreign Office visit, the delegation visited Pakistan Television, where the journalists visited various departments and reviewed the functioning of different sections of the national broadcaster. They were briefed on the organization’s broadcasting operations and media production activities. The delegation subsequently visited leading private television channels, including SAMAA News and Hum News.
During the visits, the Uzbek journalists toured different departments and observed newsroom operations, broadcasting facilities and other aspects of Pakistan’s rapidly evolving electronic media industry.
The visit is aimed at providing the Uzbek media representatives with a broader understanding of Pakistan’s political, cultural, diplomatic and media landscape while creating opportunities for greater media-to-media interaction.
The delegation will continue its eight-day tour with a visit to Lahore, where it is scheduled to explore the historic city’s renowned cultural and heritage sites.
The visit is expected to offer the Uzbek journalists a closer look at Pakistan’s rich history, architecture and cultural traditions.
The tour comes as Pakistan and Uzbekistan continue to explore avenues for stronger bilateral cooperation, with media exchanges providing an important platform for bringing the people of the two countries closer together.
