RAWALPINDI, Sep 16 (APP):The Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi organized a tree plantation drive at the Government Associate College for Women, Gowalmandi, where students and teachers actively participated and planted saplings.
The participants also pledged to take care of and protect the newly planted saplings, stressing the importance of trees in reducing environmental pollution, promoting a clean and healthy environment and mitigating the effects of climate change.
According to the Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi, plantation activities were being carried out at educational institutions to create awareness among young people about the importance of trees, environmental protection and development of a green culture.
On the special directions of Managing Director Horticulture Agency Rawalpindi Ahmed Hassan Ranjha, plantation activities, improvement of green belts, beautification of parks and other environmental initiatives were being undertaken across the city.
The agency officials appreciated the participation of students and teachers and emphasized that protection and proper nurturing of planted saplings was equally important.
The Horticulture Agency also urged citizens, educational institutions and people from all walks of life to participate in plantation campaigns to contribute towards making Rawalpindi greener, cleaner and environmentally friendly.
